Zusammenfassung: | The application and treatment using bacteria-specific viruses, so called bacteriophages, has been established successfully in several areas of medicine, bio-technology, gene-technology and agri-sciences. The technology is based on the lytic principle of replication of the phage, which results in the destruction of the Host cell. Making use of two bacteria/ phage models, this paper investigates whether a reduction of bacterial growth of specific phages is also possible on mural paintings and architectural surfaces. A successful treatment with phages is dependent on the growth and vital status of the host cell. For this reason, initial experiments (preparatory experiments/research) investigated the growth conditions of the two bacteria types used: Bacillus subtilis and Nocardia sp. |
