Zusammenfassung: | Emergency plans, developed for museums, provide the information needed for coping with threatening situations to collections and help to prevent or mitigate disasters. Risk analysis and risk management on one hand and allocation of tasks previous to an emergency situation on the other are the tools for achieving this goal. An emergency plan is subdivided into the three parts preparation, reaction and recovery. Therefore it covers the important measures to take previous to, during and after an emergency. A well tailored disaster plan that meets the individual needs of a certain museum will enable staff to accelerate the sequence of necessary steps to take in order to reduce possible damage to the collection in the aftermath of an emergency. |
