Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: In 1882, the German painter and decorator Friedrich Christian Schmidt founded the family firm Christian Schmidt in Zurich. With his son, Christian Jakob Schmidt, he was successful in bringing the distribution of Keim Mineralfarben to Switzerland. As a consequence Christian Jakob Schmidt made his first restoration of a wall painting, the Weisser Adler in Stein am Rhein. After this initial restoration, the reputation of the company spread and the restoration of wall paintings became a speciality of the firm. This in turn resulted in the company being invited to work on the restoration of monuments across the length and breadth of Switzerland.
