Abstract: | Short summary This thesis discusses a box made by Abraham Roentgen in Neuwied, Germany around 1760/65. The piece is typical of Roentgen furniture of the 1760s on account of its constructional and stylistic characteristics, which refer to English models. The author conducted art historical research as well as technical and scientific investigations. The thesis presents a concept for the conservation and restoration of the object, and includes a description of the working techniques employed in completing the restoration. Documentation of the research and treatments are included in an illustrated report. |
