Abstract: | The Tomb slab of Hermann Roemer, cofounder of the Roemer-Pelizaeus-Museums in Hildesheim, is buried in a familiygrave at the graveyard of the evangelical-lutheran St. Lamberti church community Hildesheim and shows a strong vegetation of lichens. On the occasion of the 200th birthday of Hermann Roemer the museum and the museums association commisioned a restoration. In preparation a thorough examination of the object is carried out. In addition to an object identification phenomenological and scientific examinations occure to analyse the stonematerial and the vegetation of lichens. Following to a presentation of different possibilities of cleaning, consevation and presentation a concept of restoration is carried out using the most suitable possabilities. |
