Abstract: | The subject matter of my diploma thesis are two medium sized unsigned paintings by Christian Leberecht Vogel. Main subject of my diploma thesis is the treatment of the numerous overpaintings and fillers that date back to previous restorations. The painting entitled „Young Boy with Bird“ in particular has been notably affected by those treatments. I had to create a concept for the appropriate and aesthetically pleasing restoration of both paintings. The theoretical part of my diploma thesis deals with different ways of art canvas mounting during the priming stage. Different methods of the 18th and 19th century are presented by the examples of five historical sources of that period. |
