Overview:

Abstract: This paper looks into the examination, conservation and presentation of the central fragment of a painted textile wall cover originating from 18th century East Saxony – featuring considerable loss of substance and canvas bearing capacity. Its conservation focuses on comprehensive paint layer consolidation and large-scale canvas stabilization through lining on the basis of a refined version of Mist Lining. The latter enables vertical presentation following the fragments original function and appearance.
