Joana Schaer: The Family Burial Site of Princess Albrecht zu Waldeck und Pyrmont, Johannisfriedhof Dresden. The Mural by Hans Lietzmann, 1911. The Development of a Conservation Concept with the Particular Focus on Temporary Emergency Protection / Investigations into a Filling Mortar with Lightweight Bulking Agents for Large Volume Plaster Separations back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The mural is impaired by damages caused by salt efflorescence. The paint layer is also completely covered with a sinter layer. Furthermore, the plaster as well as the paint layer show extreme deformations. The plaster has delaminated and several local separations have formed. The emphasis of the conservation treatment was the development and execution of a temporary emergency protection for the most endangered areas. Methods to consolidate the plaster layer are discussed. For a large volume separation, a lightweight filling mortar was developed (using expanding glass granulate).
