Abstract: | Subject of this diploma thesis is the portrait “Caroline Luise, Erbgroßherzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, geb. Prinzessin von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach”, painted 1824 by G.C. Lenthe. The practical part of this thesis includes a detailed examination as well as the description of the object and its condition. That is followed by the concept of conservation and the documentation of methods having been used during treatment. The theoretical part deals with the examination of fibrous pulp in order to close the multiple long tears in the finely woven canvas. |
