Abstract: | The subject of the Master thesis is a prefabricated bathroom unit. It is made of Poly(methyl methacrylate) on the inside and is laminated with glass fiber reinforced polyester resin on the outside. The unit consists of two shells which were joined together. This bathroom contains a toilet, a shower and a small sink within the area of only 1.42 m to 1.45 m. All sanitary objects were formed out of the wall and were shaped in the typical design of the late 1960s with rounded edges and organic design. The purpose of the Master thesis is the preparation of a suitable concept for the conservation to preserve this rare exhibit. The focus of the conservation measures is on the adherence of the fractions which are only detectable on the inside in the Poly(methyl methacrylate). Furthermore, a concept for the display of the prefabricated bathroom unit will be acquired which enables the visitor to understand this special item. |
