Overview:

Abstract: This thesis deals with two paintings by the concrete artist Andreas Brandt. The focus is the question of how to deal with mould on modern paintings and removing fly and spider secretions, caused by
unfavorable storage conditions. The paintings consist of unvarnished, monochrome matt black oil paint and unvarnished, monochrome white acrylic dispersion paint. In addition, Andreas Brandt‘s painting technique is analysed in detail thanks to examinations of the two paintings alongside an interview with the artist‘s son.
