Consolidated tuff samples.
Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with the examination of silicate-based stone consolidants for consolidating volcanic tuff. Tests are carried out on Weiberner Tuff, a phonolite-tuff. The commercial products tetraethoxysilane Funcosil® KSE 300E, lithium silica Betol Li22 and colloidal silica Ludox® LS are examined and optical, pore-volume and mechanical characteristics determined. In addition a hybrid material is developed based on colloidal silica and acrylate and also the characteristics of this material investigated. The examination relates to the options for consolidating buildings in Guadalajara.
