Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The subject of this diploma thesis is a painting in grisaille technique from about 1810. For comparison of the painting technique , samples were taken of a second painting belonging to the decoration of the same room. By examining the samples the composition of paint layers and the gilding technique and condition of gold were studied. Pigments and the materials used for previous restorations were identified. The badly damaged canvas was flattened after the numerous tears were repaired. The surface of the painting had to be cleaned and the large areas of bronze overpaint removed. A method of specific integration of the losses in the paint and gold background was demonstrated in an selected part.
