Abstract: | Conservation concept for a fronton at the temple Angkor Vat in Cambodia Conservation operations at the temple of Angkor Vat in Cambodia, carried out by the German Apsara Conservation Project of the University of Applied Sciences of Cologne include the conservation of the apsara relief’s and the frontons. This paper documents and evaluates the conservation at a certain fronton, carried out as a model conservation. The treatise discusses the necessary preparatory work such as the pre examination and preparation of the object as well as the accompanying documentation. In the actual conservatory treatment the used material and its composition as well as the specific damage and the measure have been taken as described. The actual state of knowledge and new experiences and insights in the conservation of the building decoration are demonstrated.
